Our Organization

Gentle Transition is a reentry workforce initiative created by Tess through a powerful collaboration between her nonprofit, Manna for His People Foundation, and her business, Gentle Milestones Mortuary Transportation, LLC.

"Our focus is to help individuals reentering society from incarceration gain meaningful employment and healing through mortuary transportation—a sacred profession rooted in service, respect, and care.

Through our ongoing work of combining business principals with clinical strategies, we have built a trauma-informed, workforce-ready training program that does more than teach a trade—it restores dignity, reduces recidivism, and builds generational legacy." -Tess

Our Story

After years of working in forensic mental health, reentry services, and the death care industry, Tess envisioned a program that would train and employ justice-impacted individuals in a field that is often overlooked—but deeply impactful. Through professional support, collaboration, and community partnership, Gentle Transitions was born.

In addition, Kevin was formerly incarcerated and realized how difficult it was for newly "re-entered" individuals to find work, so he and Tess created Gentle Milestones Mortuary Transportation to help close the employment gap created by his incarceration.
